Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism

Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of autism. Learners will develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of autism to allow them to progress onto further study or employment within the health and social care or education sectors.

Who is this course for?

This course will provide further learning in autism. Ideally, learners will have completed a Level 2 qualification before progressing onto a Level 3.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to undertake this course. Although we would recommend that you have completed a Level 2 course before starting a Level 3. To secure your place, please return the completed application form to info@stepintolearning.org.uk. After which, we will send you an assessment to complete online. Following completion of the online assessment, we will either be in touch if we have any questions or we will give you access to the online portal so that you can begin your qualification. You will be allocated a tutor who will be able to support you if you have any questions.

Why should I do this qualification?

If you want to be able to support those with autism using a person-centred approach to enable them to lead a healthy and fulfilled life then this is the qualification for you.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism. The current legislative framework relating to individuals with autism and how different theories have developed over time. How to support and manage transitions for individuals with autism. The range of therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions. How to support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism. How to develop an understanding of how individuals with autism may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements.

How will I be assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.
