Dyslexia Awareness Week

by | Oct 8, 2025

This week (w/c 6th October 2025) is Dyslexia Awareness Week. This year’s theme is ‘Raise the Volume’ – focussing on the voices of young people with dyslexia, their stories, challenges and successes. ‘Raise the Volume’ intends to ensure their experiences are heard loud and clear in schools, families, workplaces, and beyond.

The below text is from the British Dyslexia Awareness website:
“We will be launching our new report ‘Set up for somebody else’: Young people with dyslexia in the education system, based on the views of 500 young people. The findings reveal both the challenges and the positives of growing up with dyslexia, along with their priorities for the future. These insights are crucial to shaping better support, understanding, and how we can bring change for future generations.”

You can also read a presentation, created for secondary school assemblies, for Dyslexia Awareness Week (#DAW25), designed to challenge common myths and share truths. Using a simple quiz format, it tests your knowledge and you can learn how much dyslexia shapes the way people read, write, problem-solve, and create: Secondary School Assembly Powerpoint Presentation
