Healthy Cornwall – Staff Training Day
Yesterday, we had a day of staff training with Kaileigh from Healthy Cornwall.
In the morning we had a workshop called ‘Harmless’ aimed at building knowledge and understanding on self-harm in the context of children and young people. The workshop was very informative and we learnt about risk factors, recognising the stigma and how best to support young people who self harm. It was humbling to hear some of our staff share their own experiences of being parents in this situation. It felt very positive to get together to discuss an issue that could easily slip under the radar, or be misunderstood.
In the afternoon we had a ‘Menopause Awareness’ workshop aimed at raising knowledge and understanding of menopause signs and symptoms and how workplaces can support staff through menopause. We learnt some interesting facts and shared our own experiences of perimenopause and menopause. It was great to be able to get together to talk so openly and honestly.
Thank you to Kaileigh and the Healthy Cornwall team for such an informative staff training day.
Thanks also go to Rose Cottage Cafe for providing our team lunch.
