Learners Brew Success with Barista Skills and Baking Workshop

by | Apr 1, 2026

Learners recently took part in an engaging and hands-on workshop delivered by the Cornwall Hospitality Collective, where they developed practical skills in both coffee-making and baking.

The session was filled with rich aromas and creativity as participants learned how to prepare professional-quality barista coffee. Under expert guidance, learners practiced crafting popular drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos, gaining confidence in using different types of milk, including full fat, semi-skimmed, and plant-based soya alternatives.

A highlight of the experience was mastering latte art. Learners explored techniques to create decorative designs on their drinks, successfully producing patterns such as tulips and apples, adding a creative flourish.

Alongside their barista training, learners also turned their attention to baking, making delicious lemon and ginger shortbread biscuits. The results were a great success, with the biscuits described as having a melt-in-the-mouth texture.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for learners to build new skills, express creativity, and enjoy the rewards of their efforts. At the end of the session, they proudly shared the items they had made with both staff and peers.

Overall, the day was a memorable and rewarding experience, combining practical learning with teamwork and enjoyment.
