Work Experience – Feb & March 2025

by | Mar 10, 2025

We are very proud of our Step Into Hospitality and Step Into Catering learners who have completed work experience placements w/c 24th February and w/c 3rd March. They were all very much involved in deciding where to go on their placements, and have enjoyed being challenged, pushing themselves out of their comfort zone, learning new skills, and building confidence. They have all gained valuable knowledge and experience to add to their CVs.

Special thanks to all the employers who supported our young people in their placements and provided such an enriching experience!

More details on where our learners went below:

Gracie-Mae went to The Coffee Pot in Launceston: https://www.facebook.com/Coffeepotlaunceston/

Orion went to Electric Bakery in Bude: https://www.electricbakery.co/

Callum has been to Marks & Spencer in Launceston: https://www.marksandspencer.com/stores/launceston-foodhall-791

Lewis has been to Cedar Grange Nursing Home in Launceston: https://www.sanctuary-care.co.uk/care-homes-cornwall/cedar-grange-residential-and-nursing-home-launceston. Also Trethorne Golf Club in Launceston: https://trethornegolfclub.com/

Here is an amazing quote from one of the employers:

“Gracie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She picked the job up very quickly, showing a good understanding of the processes of making great handcrafted barista style coffee. Her customer service was excellent, and she made a great impression with our most regular customers. Nothing was too much for her, and she seemed like she is made for this line of work. Gracie would be welcome back to the team, and hopefully going forward we will be able to bring her into the business when possible.”

And another very complimentary quote from an employer:

“Orion was a fantastic addition to the team for the 2 weeks that he joined us for work experience. His knowledge about specialty coffee is extensive and that shows through his enthusiasm in the work place.

Orion takes well to any task asked of him, but really shines when he’s working on the coffee machine. At the beginning he was slightly nervous making coffees during service, we talked about how to overcome this and with more time on the machine his confidence massively grew. In my opinion when someone shows nerves this is a positive thing as it’s a sign that they care.

Orion was great to work with, knowing when to keep his head down and work hard and when to relax a little and talk with staff members.

If there is ever a chance for him to join us again for work experience, we would love to have him.”

Well done Gracie-Mae and Orion – what an achievement!
