Aiming For Our Silver Award

You will recall a while ago we shared our achievement of a Bronze Award with Positive Planet. Positive Planet is a growing community of over 500 companies that are measuring, reporting, and reducing their carbon emissions. With the support of Positive Planet, we are making the move from having the intent to make a change to creating a sustainable approach to achieve our climate change goals.

We are never one to rest on our laurels here at Step into Learning and we are now working tirelessly to hit our Silver Award. One of our eye-opening moments through this process was learning that the number of emails we send affects our carbon footprint in as much as the data centre that stores the emails use electricity and the use of the device i.e. pc, laptop, tablet, mobile, etc also uses electricity and normally houses embodied carbon in the device itself.

The thought of fewer emails in our inbox, whilst an exciting benefit, is now an active contributor to the impact of our carbon footprint.
