Work Experience

Work experience is an important link activity between employers and further education providers.  Exposure to work is a significant step in preparing young people for adult and working life, by helping to develop learner’s personal and social skills, as well as the key skills needed for the world of work.

Quotes from Employers:

“Gracie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She picked the job up very quickly, showing a good understanding of the processes of making great handcrafted barista style coffee. Her customer service was excellent, and she made a great impression with our most regular customers. Nothing was too much for her, and she seemed like she is made for this line of work. Gracie would be welcome back to the team, and hopefully going forward we will be able to bring her into the business when possible.”

“Orion was a fantastic addition to the team for the 2 weeks that he joined us for work experience. His knowledge about specialty coffee is extensive and that shows through his enthusiasm in the work place.

Orion takes well to any task asked of him, but really shines when he’s working on the coffee machine. At the beginning he was slightly nervous making coffees during service, we talked about how to overcome this and with more time on the machine his confidence massively grew. In my opinion when someone shows nerves this is a positive thing as it’s a sign that they care.

Orion was great to work with, knowing when to keep his head down and work hard and when to relax a little and talk with staff members.

If there is ever a chance for him to join us again for work experience, we would love to have him.”
